The Huntsville Box

Posted on

Hey y’all!! I hope everyone is doing alright. (: I know I am!!
 .
This week, my email isn’t going to be very long, just a warning. (:
 .
First I already told y’all where I am so first things first, my area boundaries consist of a 5 mile by 5 mile box. Yes, a box. I’m literally living in a box! It’s quite fun! There’s so much to do here though!! And within in our little box, there is a ward. It is the smallest ward boundaries in the South Eastern region of America! (: Cool right? I may or may not go crazy…
 .
My companion is stellar!! She is so diligent and steadfast! I love her so much! We already get along so great! She has also been companions with some of my past companions. Sister Platt and Sister Wittwer! How fun. (: I think it’s cool how some of my companions have other similar companions as me, so it’s bound to happen! (:
.
Some exciting things, at transfers I got to see Sister Alexis Rogers!! SAY WHAT!? I love her so much! She is beautiful as ever!! I’m so happy that she has decided to serve a mission! I can’t wait for her to start her adventures here in the Alabama Birmingham Mission! (:
Also at transfers, I saw a lot of my past companions and I took pictures with them! That was fun! (:
 .
So just yesterday, right before our dinner appointment, we were tracting, we had been tracting for maybe 2 hours already and this last house(we weren’t planning on having it be the last house) a very kind gentleman let us in and he had all these AMAZING questions. His wife was just soaking it all in and didn’t have much to say…but HE, asked all the right questions. We were able to explain a lot of things he had questions about and even give him some new information. It’s amazing how the Lord blesses us because of our diligence. (: LOVE IT!!
Well that’s it for this week y’all! I hope that y’all have a splendid week! (:

Love,
Sister Jesselyn Drummond

And Old Friend, New Companion, and New City

Posted on Updated on

Sister Drummond has been transferred to Huntsville, Alabama. She has spent over half of her mission in Mississippi, and it was hard for her to leave but she’s also excited for her next adventure. She goes where she’s supposed to without complaint.

I was super excited to see a picture of Sister Drummond today with her old friend Alex Rogers. Sister Rogers and Sister Drummond grew up in the same ward and went to school together. What a treat to be able to see a familiar face and exchange warm hugs. (Thanks to April Cook for the pictures.)

Her new companion is Sister Crandall from Washington State. They are STLs in Huntsville. Stay steadfast in Christ.

Transfers and 12 Weeks Left

Posted on Updated on

Well life is getting crazy!! I’m getting transferred y’all! So, no mail this week til I get my new address out!! NO MAIL THIS WEEK.

.

I know for a fact that I will be leaving Mississippi…): Leaving the Tupelo Stake. That’s okay though. I guess I’m needed other places. But guess what!! I spent about 10 months of my mission in Mississippi. WOW! Alabama here I come! I was born there and I guess I will die there too. SWEET!
 .
I’m excited to see what my new area has in store for missionary opportunities!
 .
There has been a lot that has happened this week. We have found a TON of potential investigators and things are just happening here in Tupelo! I’m sad to be leaving, but I know Sister Allred and her new companion will work hard together to help bring more souls unto Christ. (:
 .
I don’t have much more to say, so y’all have a great day and know that SISTER DRUMMOND LOVES YOU!!!
 .
Love,
Sister Jesselyn Drummond

Last week of transfers!!

Posted on Updated on

Welp, as said in my subject line of this email. This is the last week of the transfer, so y’all know what that means! I have transfer calls on Saturday! SO, DO NOT SEND ANY MAIL NEXT WEEK UNTIL AFTER MONDAY. Got it? (: Good.

This week was really good. We went tracting in the FREEZING cold. That was fun and awesome haha. We got a lot of potential investigators and I am really excited to go follow up with them all.
 .
We went on exchanges with some sisters. The Amory sisters, which are Sister Robison and Sister Mason. Sister Mason came to Tupelo with me as Sister Allred went to Amory with Sister Robison. It was really fun. Now here’s a story! Sister Mason and I were tracting one morning and not having too much success because it’s a weekday. But that’s okay! So we decide to go get some lunch because I’m always hungry and there is a nice Chinese buffet on the side of town we were on that has a really nice deal for lunch. So we went! And while we were there, we had really yummy food and then at the end of our meal when we were stuffed beyond anything…we waited patiently for our check. And the waiter brought us our fortune cookies but no check. So we waited a little longer (it felt like forever) and finally the waiter came to and said, “your meal has already been paid for. I don’t know by who.” WHAT!???? Alrighty y’all, that NEVER happens here. It’s really rare. It’s not like we are in Utah and see members everywhere who will so willingly pay for missionary’s food. It was so amazing!! (: So to whomever it was! THANK YOU! (:
 .
Then I went on exchanges with the Booneville sisters, Sister Smith and Williams. I went to Booneville with Sister Williams and Sister Smith came to Tupelo with Sister Allred. It’s always fun to go back to old areas. (: I forgot to get a picture with Sister Williams. ): There is a lot happening in Booneville and I am so happy to see the successes of the missionaries in that area. (:
 .
Also!! During interviews with President Hanks…a pipe broke at the church so we were so lucky enough to clean up! Haha. Good thing we were there! o:
 .
Well, that’s it for now y’all. I love y’all! Have the best week ever and remember, no mail next week…until AFTER Monday. (: Thank y’all!
 .
Love forever,
Sister Jesselyn Drummond

Surgery or operation? HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Posted on Updated on

So probably most of y’all are freaking out from what you have been hearing from my mom. I want y’all to know that I AM COMPLETELY FINE!!! I just had a blocked salivary gland and the ENT Dr. just cut my gland under my tongue and pulled out this GIANT stone that was blocking it. So now I am on medication and get nasty tastes in my mouth every so often because of the backed up saliva and puss and yummy gunk that has been building up in my gland. Sound fun? (: YOU BETCHA!!! It has been an experience.

So this week we didn’t do much, because of my little operation. (: (I have pictures if you haven’t seen from my mom already) Really. I’ve been at our apartment going CRAZY!! But Sunday night I couldn’t help it any more so we went out! We tried contacting a referral and meanwhile, we got a lesson!! (Not with the referral, she wasn’t home) We went looking for people who might know her and we found someone who we’ve talked to at Walmart before! SO COOL! God works in so many mysterious ways. Anyways, we committed two of the three people to come to church with us next Sunday! IT was so cool. (:
.
Other than that, not much. Sorry y’all haha. But will send a before and after picture of my mouth and everything in between I guess? (:
.
Love,
Sister Jesselyn Drummond!
