BAPTISM!!!?

Posted on

Alrighty y’all! The interesting thing that happened this week was we had a baptism in our little box! (: Y’all are probably really confused right now! I was at first too, don’t worry haha.
 .
We got a call from our ward mission leader on Tuesday, remember I haven’t been here very long at this point. Almost a week. But he told us that the Bishop’s granddaughter is getting baptized on Sunday and she is 9 years old…that means her baptism needs to go through the mission y’all. We were flabbergasted! This just does not happen!! Well we were able to teach sweet little Madeline, and her younger sister, Isabelle, who is 8, in 3 days! Yes, 3 days so they could be baptized together. (: It was the cutest little thing! Seeing the young girls make promises with God was a wonderful experience! (:
 .
Also some numbers for y’all. I don’t remember if I explained ever before but our mission is doing this thing called the ‘hour of power.’ Where for 1 hour we just go crazy nutso bold and invite EVERYONE to be baptized. Or if we are focusing on a different key indicator it will be that. But this last week we were focusing on baptismal invitations. Now our goal as a mission was to get 2 thousand invites within 6 hours throughout the week. That is a lot. We as a zone decided to really push ourselves! Can I just say, I have not been more proud in my entire life!!! The Huntsville North zone started out on Tuesday with only 58 baptismal invites in 1 hour. We kept increasing and last night, a SUNDAY of all days…our goal was 200 baptismal invites in 1 hour. Y’all our zone, the Huntsville North zone in 1 hour got 318 baptismal invites!! SAY WHAT!?!?! We got a total of 872 invites for our zone in 6 hours! I’m just braggin on these missionaries now. (: THEY ARE SO AWESOME!! As a mission total, within 1 week in 6 hours we got a total of over 3 thousand. WE BLEW OUR GOAL OUT OF THE WATER!!!! Best mission ever!! I’m so excited to see how the Lord is going to bless us because of our hard work and boldness. (: SO COOL!!!! 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
 .
Sister Crandall and I are just partyin here in our small box. (: We love it and can’t wait to see how else the Lord is going to bless us! (: Love y’all so much!! Keep on keepin on! Have a great week!

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Baptism??

Posted on Updated on

I hope y’all had a very Merry Christmas!! I know I did haha.

 .
We went southern sledding and got matching pj’s! And we partied with the Amory Sisters and skyped families AND we played games all day hahaha. (:
 .
Then to top it all off, yesterday after church, ADDINE GOT BAPTIZED!!! It was so good. Everything went so smoothly! YAY!! It has been so good to see the change in Addine and to see her eyes shine with the gospel truth! AHH!! I believe partly that I served my mission for Addine. She told Sister Wittwer and I that she needed to hear the gospel from us BECAUSE she has seen us in a dream!!! SAY WHAT!?!? She is soooo cool. AND!! Wow, she invited her husband to church and he came!! Along with her son and grandson. It was so exciting! So hopefully we will be able to teach all of them. (:
 .
Who is ready for the new year!? CRAZY! I am, yet I’m not. Haven’t really decided yet. It will be good but then I can’t say that I go home next year anymore…. /: But we won’t talk about it haha.
 .
Anyways, I love y’all and hope everything is going well!!

Transfers…ALREADY!?

Posted on

Well, this transfer is already over! o: Transfers are Wednesday and Sister Wittwer is headed out…. ): I am very sad, but I know she is going to be great where ever she goes! (:

So anyways, this week was AWESOME!! The Lord is so cool, let me just say that. Life has been good and He has showed me and Sister Wittwer some AWESOME miracles!! It has been so good! (:
First our investigator Addine has been progressing and she is phenomenal! (: She came to church yesterday and brought her 22 year old son, Joe. We haven’t actually started teaching Joe yet, but we plan on it soon! Addine is so great! She has been reading from the Book of Mormon diligently and when we taught her about the Plan of Salvation she said she was mind blown! She said it was familiar to her and she never wants to forget it. Y’all some people in the south get taught that they won’t know their family in heaven. It’s quite sad. So the Plan of Salvation gave her reassurance and she said that everyone needs to know about it! I am so grateful for that lesson and for the Lord being so kind and softening her heart. (:
We also had our Recent Convert  MJ invite a friend to church, which he did and we are hopefully gunna start teaching him too! (: The Lord is working hard y’all! (:
Another cool thing happened yesterday! (: Sister Wittwer and I had some free space in our schedule, so we decided to go tracting! Whooo! And ALWAYS, with out fail, missionaries in general seem to always get that feeling of ‘I don’t want too’ …and we did, I got ‘super tired’ all of a sudden and did that stop me!? NO! Try again Satan. 😉 But we went tracting and the first door we knocked on wasn’t too interested but they told us to stop by their neighbors so naturally we did. Alrighty y’all, hold on to your britches! We met, Kayla she was so cool!!! She invited us in and started talking about this and that…we found out a lot of hard trials that Kayla has been going through and we asked her why she thought God sent us to her and she said, ‘Because of what I’m going through right now.’ Wow…y’all I can testify that I know that is true! God loves us!! (: But the other cool thing about Kayla is that she has met with missionaries before!! WOW! We invited her to learn more AGAIN and we have a return appointment on Thursday! SO COOL!!! GOD IS SO GOOD!!! I LOVE HIM! Her heart has slowly been softened. (:
Today even we met another person who has met missionaries! It’s so crazy, the Lord really is working hard with helping us as a mission reach our goal of 500 baptisms by the end of the year. (:

Another small miracle and testimony builder for me. But first, story time, I promise it will connect.
So Saturday Sister Wittwer and I had the pleasure of going to a Christmas Program that a very well known baptist church put on and we had some potential investigators in it so that is why we went, also to show people that Mormons do things ha. BUT, while we there and were watching and listening, both Sister Wittwer and I had this overwhelming love for everyone. We knew that all of those thousands of people that were there loved Christ and then, the even cooler part was that we knew that Christ and God loved them all, ALL. It was so overwhelming to me that I just started crying. It was so cool! I am so grateful to serve in a place that I know these people love their Savior. Wow…. So yesterday, being fast Sunday, I had the STRONGEST impression that I needed to get up and share that experience and testify to everyone that God loved them. So I did. And when I did so, there was a woman in the ward(whom I love so much!) that got up right after me and bore testimony of missionary work. She said that everything I said was meant for her and that she needed to hear it. I know that we are truly instruments in God’s hands. He knows us perfectly and loves us unconditionally. It was so cool to see how much we,as missionaries especially, are used as tools. (:

So that is my week! I hope y’all are enjoying the Christmas spirit!! (: If any of y’all didn’t watch the first presidency Christmas message, GO WATCH IT NOW!!! It’s on lds.org. (: You will not regret it. Also if you haven’t looked up ‘He is the Gift’ yet either, WATCH THAT FIRST then the 1st presidency message. (:
Love y’all so much!

How are y’all doin!? (:
Not much happened this week. So this email is going to be relatively short…
So for those of y’all who didn’t know, this Thursday is my 1 year mark in the field! Crazy. And because my MTC companion, Sister Zackrison is now serving in Booneville we were able to take a picture together! (: AND! Get this, she is training this transfer as well and our companions were roommates in the MTC! It was like a mini reunion! (:
For one, I can NOT believe how fast this week has gone by… It seriously feels like just yesterday I was typin out another email to y’all. Wow. in 2ish days the month of October is going to be half over! Yikes…
This week was a bit rough, our teaching pool has dropped to almost 0…and our investigators are bein picky ha. But they do have their agency, and we cannot force them to do anything.
My good friend Jalisa though, she is slowly gettin there. (: She has agreed to be baptized. She KNOWS she needs to. I asked her the other day if she believes the things we are teaching are true and she said yes! (: I then proceeded to ask if she KNOWS if these things are true. And she said not yet, but based on how she has been feeling, she believes she will get an answer soon. I KNOW she will get an answer. (: It’s so happy!
Other then that, we have been doin a lot of finding! o:
Yesterday or more of this weekend was stake conference and because I am still in the Tupelo Stake I was able to see lots of members and friends from Booneville! It was so fun! (: I love them and miss them dearly. BUT I am so grateful for being to serve in West Point. I have come to love and make friendships here just as well. (:
I hope y’all have a FANTASTIC week and find the tender mercies of the Lord. (:
Love,
Sister Drummond

One Year Older and Wiser Too??

Posted on Updated on

First of all, I want to thank y’all so much for all the birthday wishes and letters! And thank you SO much to the Jepsens for the ‘birthday party in a box!’ It was very thoughtful. For those of y’all who have no idea what I’m talking about…SHAME ON YOU!!! Haha nah, I just kiddin. But yesterday was the 24th and that was a glorious day because 20 years ago, I popped into the world! Wonderful! (:
Also, my amazin beautiful companion decorated our apartment for my birthday! She made me breakfast, (crepes) and as I walked downstairs she was flickering the lights and singing to me hahaha. I just love her!! It was a special day!
So besides my fabulous Sabbath birthday, we had an investigator show up to churh! Yay! And I also got a birthday present from the branch…it comes in the form of: ‘Next week is the 5th Sunday, guess who gets to speak!’ So yes, Next Sunday I will be getting to speak! I am actually quite excited. (:
Anyways, This past week has been interesting, we have been out of our area 3 days out of the week, first of all we went on exchanges with the Sister Training Leaders because they each had a doctors appointment on the same day and in different areas. So, that was a fun filled day of waiting!! But because we are missionaries, we related to the waiting process in a doctors office to the Plan of Salvation. It totally works. (: Just think about haha. And without technology…waiting for 4 hours can get VERY borin… Made me appreciate technology haha. (:
We also went to Tupelo for zone conference which as always was VERY good and spiritual. I just love learning from President Hanks and the leaders of our mission. (: Then the third day was Saturday where we got to go to a baptism in Sister Platt’s past area! That was fun! And I got to see Sister Larsen again! I just love her! (: It was fun spending time with her again. (: She took us to lunch afterwards for my birthday. So kind of her!
funny quotes this week by Sister Platt: “If that man were a girl, he would make a very nice model.” “I can’t wait til tomorrow’s planning! Every hour is going to say, ‘PARTY!'” I just love her! (:
I think that is all really. I have so much happen here I just cant remember it all. (: But I love y’all!! Thanks again for the birthday wishes! And have a BLESSED week!
Love,
Sister Jesselyn Drummond
All these pictures were on my birthday! (: Haha!

Miracles and more miracles!!! Transfers!?

Posted on Updated on

Well, I don’t really know where to start! This has been such a FANTASTIC week!!

My first miracle that I want to share, on Saturday, we got a text on our phone from a random number that we didn’t know and it said, ‘Is this Jesselyn or Danielle?’ I was kinda freaking out! We found out that it was a Texas number so I was really confused first of all because I was no longer with Sister Gomm. Anyways…I found out that it was a guy we met in Tupelo during the tornado cleanup and he was from Texas. His name is Bryce We had talked to him about the church only a little bit. We kept in contact with him for a little bit after and he even went to church in Tupelo! But soon after we lost all contact with him for about 3 months….til Saturday! Come to find out, he was texting us and telling us thank you for introducing him to the church because he is now attending the ward in Westpoint, Texas and he is going to get baptized this weekend!! Wow it was so exciting!! It was amazing to see that I am getting to do missionary work ALL OVER!! (:
Next miracle! SO our mission president has been really pushing us on ‘unplanned invites’ meaning, we have to ‘OPEN OUR MOUTHS’ and TALK TO EVERYONE. Well, even as a missionary, it is hard to talk to people about the gospel. I have been struggling with it for literally my entire mission!! BUT last Tuesday, we had our interviews with good ol’ President Hanks! And wow, I love that man almost as much as my own daddy, he is so inspiring and said exactly what I needed to hear! Because the miracle is that Sister Brunner and I talked to 101 people this week! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!! I am doing it and I am sharing the gospel to everyone. I am a Disciple of Christ. This week has been super busy!

3rd miracle! Yesterday, after the very sad Church service, we had gotten a call from a member telling us that she had some relatives at her house who were asking about the church! So of course, we dropped everything and drove over!! And can I just say, WOW!! The woman we met, her name is Marilyn and she is so prepared to receive the Restored Gopsel!! She had tons of questions, and the spirit was so strong! She accepted everything we said, she WANTS to be baptized. She WANTS to be married and sealed for all eternity in the house of the Lord. She WANTS this. Wow. Amazing. We set a baptismal date for the 23rd of this month. Y’all it was a blessing to see someone else make that commitment right before I leave!

Whoever the next sister is in Booneville is going to have her hands full. Great things are happening here and I am so grateful for my time that I was able to serve here. My time is up and I am needed somewhere else!

Also, Sister Brunner and I went biking this week, and it was a 12 mile bike ride!! WOW! I was dead afterwards haha. And boy was it hot! (:

I love y’all and have a great week!
.
p.s. Sorry y’all! I forgot to mention that I am getting transferred!! Ha. Wednesday I will be in a new area with a new companion! So PLEASE HOLD ALL MAIL TIL NEXT WEEK!  I love y’all! (:
.
***First picture of a frog we found squished on the ground…everything came out it’s mouth…we hope that is now in frog heaven. (:

The Hill Billy Mall!! That is a great flea market where EVERYTHING is so cheap. (:
And I am now leaving BooneVegas!

BAPTISM!!!

Posted on Updated on

Guess what y’all!!

If you read the topic, then you’ve guessed it! (: WE GOT A BAPTISM!!
This is Jordan and he is so sweet! I am so proud of him and his decision to be baptized.
I just want to say that this baptism would not have happened without the Lord’s hand. There was so much that was tryin to stop this baptism from happening! When Sister Brunner and I first got to the church, there was a man in the parking lot who we knew was a druggie and we are not allowed to be alone with this man, so we parked our car on the other side of the building and ran inside! It was kinda scary because we were watching him from the inside out and he went to EVERY single door that the church has and he banged on them so loudly and ferociously…it was kinda scary. So Sister Brunner and I got kinda locked in the church and were sneaking around so this man wouldn’t see us. We called our Bishop and he took care of the situation, but after that little problem, we had another problem! We could NOT get the printer to work! We were tryin to print off programs and wow, it did not want to work for us…eventually, with 15 minutes til the baptism started we got them to work!!!(YAY!) But the next problem, Jordan forgot his extra under clothing and towel! Oh man, did we feel awful! Once again, it all worked out with a member bringing a towel ‘just in case!’  *PHEW* The baptism started and it was going well, then was it time for the actual service, and bless his heart, the poor Elder who was baptizing Jordan, slipped on the stairs walking into the baptismal font…he told us that he now has giant bruise on his leg…Awful! But now, Jordan is baptized and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Wow! What a wonderful experience!
Also, whoever built our church’s baptismal font did a terrible job because when you think of a tub, the water slopes TOWARDS the drain right? Well not here! It slopes AWAY from it…So guess what we got to do after everyone left?? We squeegeed it!! HAHAHA! It was fun. (:
I love my God. He is my Father and I know I can rely on him for anything! My thanks are to Him and His son, Jesus Christ, and of course all of y’all who have kept me in their prayers. I love y’all so much!! Have a great week and remember to stay close to our Heavenly Father!!
With much Love and Gratitude,
Sister Jesselyn Drummond

Stayin Put

Posted on Updated on

Alrighty!
So I stayed again in Hoover, just means my time is not up here. And I’m kinda okay with that. (:
I love it here haha! And my new companion is: *drum roll* Sister Dormer!! I love her and people get our names confused a lot. (: It’s funny. Also she is amazing and we are going to rock it out here!
So just the main things that happened this last week!
First, committed Rebecca to a baptismal date and she did!!!!!! I’M SO EXCITED Y’ALL! My first baptism will be on January 25th. Oh my goodness. She came to church with us yesterday and wow oh wow it could NOT have been better. (: I’m just excited and proud and AAAAHHH!! Yup ha. (:
Also, there was a day where we went tracting most of the day and we handed out 4 Books of Mormon!! that’s a crazy ton for 1 day I think! Well I know! And then the very next day we gave out 1 more! Our zone has handed out a grand total of 59 Books of Mormon this week. We are totally winning. 😉 (not like it’s a competition…)
And also weather here is just….wow. It was FREEZING! for like 2 days got down to the teens! Yikes! and the very next day, was like 50 something. It was awesome and weird haha.
But anywho, that’s about all I got time for. I love y’all so much and I don’t have time for the scripture question…I’m sorry! JUST KEEP READING YOUR SCRIPTURES THIS WEEK! I will have a question for y’all next week. (:
Love,
Sister Drummond
