‘Til We Meet
Dear friends and family,
It has been a long time since I have seen y’all and over the course of a year and half a lot can change. I have pondered what it is I could say this day to y’all. I still don’t really know, so we will see where the spirit takes me. (:
I have learned so much on my mission. I have had ups and down. I was born into the Alabama Birmingham Mission in Hoover, Alabama. It is there that I learned how to be a missionary. I met amazing people, people I will never forget. I spent 6 months of my mission there. When the time came for me to leave, I felt it coming. I was sad to leave, but at the same time, I was excited to try something new. I was a little more experienced, so why not?
After Hoover I had been banished to the wonderful town of Booneville, Mississippi. I never thought I would go to Mississippi because our mission only covered a small sliver of it. And there I was in the boondocks. But it here where I fell in love with country, where I got the full affect of ‘the south.’ I loved it. The area, the culture, and the people. Oh the people, forever locked in my heart. I had spent 4 1/2 months here in Booneville and I did NOT want to leave. How could I leave? Everything was so good, but again, I felt it coming…I only denied it. In Booneville is where I hit my 9 month mark. I was a missionary now.
I was so sad to be leaving Booneville because I just KNEW I was going back to Alabama and that would be it. But little did I know…. I was transferred to West Point, Mississippi!! I was still in Mississippi! I was so excited. West Point is where I became a Disciple of Jesus Christ. It is where I felt the spiritual change. It was hard work in West Point and it really tested me. But I soon came to realize that West Point didn’t necessarily need me, I needed West Point. Here I only spent 3 months, but it was a good 3 months. When transfers came again, I knew there was NO WAY that I would stay in Mississippi now. I had already been here for 7 1/2 months. But the Lord works in mysterious ways doesn’t He. (:
Where did I go next? I think we all know, BACK TO MISSISSIPPI!!! I was in Tupelo! The birth place of Elvis Presley and boy was it fun!! I LOVED Tupelo. It is here where I found the person I knew I was supposed to find. Why are people in the south so wonderful? You just get heart broken whenever you leave. By this time, I really didn’t want to go back to Alabama. I have spent a total of 10 months of my mission in Mississippi, I couldn’t leave. Mississippi is my place! It is MY ‘waters of Mormon’ It is where I came to know my Savior.
Transfers again and guess where I’m going?? NOT BACK TO MISSISSIPPI!!! I am now in Huntsville/Madison Alabama. And boy, has it kept me on my toes. It is has been a challenge because how wealthy people are here, but that doesn’t meant there isn’t anyone here who isn’t prepared. The Capshaw ward is a great place. I can’t get over the people in the South. Really. I’m very grateful that this is where I am ending my mission. (:
I want to end with my testimony.
I testify that there is a God. He is our loving Heavenly Father. He knows us perfectly, he loves us unconditionally and he wants what is best for us. He gave us his only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ. I know he died and suffered for us, but I also know that he rose again on the third day so that we may live again with him and our Father. He did it because he loves us. I know that we can pray to receive forgiveness of our sins, but we must show we have forgiven ourselves. I am so grateful for the Atonement and for the knowledge of repentance. I know that Repentance is real. We can repent EVERYDAY of our sins and wrong doings. Christ is there, he will bear our burdens with us. He will be with us EVERY STEP OF THE WAY. HE is waiting for us to turn towards him and ASK for his help. He is the way, the truth, and the light. I testify that the Book of Mormon is true. That it is, along with the Bible, the Word of God. I know that as we read and study from the pages of the scriptures we can and will find answers to our prayers. I know that if you read the Book of Mormon and ask God, with a sincere heart and with real intent, meaning you are truly intending to act on the answer you receive, if the Book of Mormon is true, He will tell you by the power of the Holy Ghost. I testify that prayer works. I have seen God answer my prayers time and time again. God does hear us, and he does answer, in his own time and in his own way. God even knows the prayers that are not said out loud or in our heads. He hears and knows the prayers in our hearts. He knows what we desire and he wants to give us what we want. I testify that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the one and only true church on the earth. It contains the FULL truth, all the missing pieces. I know that Jesus Christ, himself is the head of this church and that he leads the church through a modern day prophet, just like Moses. That prophet today is Thomas S. Monson. We can listen to him and receive guidance from his counsel if we choose to obey it. I know this gospel is true. I love it, I live it, I share it.
I love y’all so much. I can’t wait to see y’all’s shining smiling faces! (:
Have the best week, see y’all soon.
For the last time,
SISTER Jesselyn Drummond

“Oh it’s MORMON? Maybe that’s why my boss was always so mad at me!”
We know that life gets rough, and that is why it is so important to pray to our Heavenly Father and ask for his guidance each and every day! (:
Alright, now let me explain the ‘subject’ of this message. (: Just yesterday we were invited in to this guy’s house where he kept calling us Norman’s and I just thought it was hilarious because I had never actually heard someone call us ‘Norman’s’ and I didn’t want to correct him right out front because I would just feel bad ha. But he kept telling us that he worked for a ‘Norman’ and that he didn’t think his boss liked him very much. He told us that he went in to work a few times on drugs but not everyday! When he was sayin something about us ‘Norman’s’ again, his fiance yelled at him ‘It’s MORMON, not Norman’ and he looked at her then back at us and said, ‘Ooooh it’s MORMON? Maybe that’s why my boss was always so mad at me!’ We died. It was so funny! I still get a kick outta it. (:
Anyways, how have y’all been doin? Me? I have been doin quite well! Our teaching pool has gotten so big! I really don’t remember the names of a lot of the people we have included…ha. It’s like when you have a small container of water and you keep adding water to that container… eventually that container is going to overflow! (Duh Sister Drummond) Well, that is our teaching pool right now. I feel like we have had to upgrade our container twice! May just be me though… I love Booneville, I really do. There is so much potential here and we just have to find it!! Yay! …
So another thing that happened!! One day this week we were walking! And we saw a sign that said ‘Yard sale —>’ Something to that extent…so anyways, we didn’t think it was very far and we headed to the yard sale to contact people! Well, the yard sale was a lot farther away than we intended! BUT! We finally made it! And lo and behold, the guy who was having it was a CHURCH OF CHRIST Preacher. For some odd reason we have been attracting Church of Christ members… So anyways, he actually invited us in and we taught him a good lesson! I don’t know how far it got, but hey, WE TAUGHT A PREACHER! (: It was an accomplishment. Also, I got a really cute skirt from the yard sale! 50 cents y’all! (:
But there is the Adventures of Sister Gomm and Sister Drummond this week! Hope y’all enjoyed it!
Have a splendid week! Have some fun in the sun for me now and remember I love y’all!!
Stay Steadfast in Christ!

Blessins’ of the Lord
This week was GREAT! We had a lot of blessings and miracles happen! I will keep them short though because well, sometimes you just don’t feel like typin it completely out!
So anyways, workin backwards, yesterday we didn’t have ANY of our 80 thousand investigators show up! I was so frustrated! We had 5 tell us that they would show up. DA GUM!
But the positive stuff that happened yesterday was that we got 4 new investigators yesterday and while we were tracting, every house that answered, let us in! It was amazing. (: We also had a day where everything went according to plan! Now, life as a missionary…days just DO NOT go accordin to plan! But Friday everything was perfect. It was kinda weird haha.
We have been teaching more and bearing testimony to so many more people. I know the Lord is blessin us because of our diligence to the work. We have worked hard and I have keep myself positive and happy everyday. Missionary work is hard, but when you are diligent in the work, you receive blessings.
I love y’all so much and I hope that you continue to stay steadfast in Christ!
Have a great week!
Love,
Sister Jesselyn Drummond
P.S
We were at our recent convert’s house last night and we ended up somehow talking about the dinosaurs and Jesus… and when the dinosaurs were on the earth. And the 11 year old son turned to his mom and says, “Don’t you think that if dinosaurs would have been on the earth when Jesus was, they would have da gum ate him!” It was so funny. I could not stop laughing. It was a good time. (:
Missionary Work
It is crazy down there, but they have asked the volunteers to stop coming for a while so they can get out and pick up all the debris that we have piled up. So we get a break, and can I just say, I am SO thankful because I am just exhausted! After we email today, we are going shopping then going back to our apartment to take a nice long nap, because I just can’t do another week without resting up a bit.
So besides clean up this past week, I just want to share an AMAZIN miracle that happened to us this past week. (: So Thursday Sister Gomm and I had gone to a smaller town within our area and this town is called Marietta. Let me just say, there is absolutely NOTHIN there. But we were there from 10:30 til 6:30. A member took us and out bikes and dropped us off. And we went tracting, ALL. DAY. LONG. Oh my goodness, y’all I was exhausted afterwards. So now the miracle comes!! We had gone to Marietta in hopes to expand our teaching pool. And we had gotten some return appointments but we weren’t sure how promising they were… so anyways, it’s about 6 and we decided it was time to call the member to come get us. But right before we did, our phone rings and it’s our recent convert in the ward and her sister is at her house asking all sorts of questions about the church and about God and what not. We were so excited!! We just a referral from a recent convert and when we got back to Booneville, we taught and now she is our new investigator!! Isn’t it just amazing! (: I was so happy and excited. I think it is great.
So that’s about it! Also I’m going to forward this video of the tornado! It’s insane y’all! Just a reminder, I was in it! But the Lord loves his missionaries! We are okay. (:
I love y’all and I hope all the dear mothers who read this had a FANTASTIC Mother’s Day.
Love,
Sister Jesselyn Drummond

Strong Faith
I forgot to mention last week that I got a package from some family friends, the Jepsens! And it was a total surprise! It was most appreciated though. (:
So I had been sitting here for a little while wondering what I could say about this week. And I realized, about keeping your faith.
My faith has been tried this past few weeks and I didn’t even realize it. Because I had honestly asked, ‘Why am I in the Bible Belt? I do NOT know the scriptures, this is too hard.” And Sister Dormer and I were talking about it because we talk about EVERYTHING ha. She told me, that she doesn’t think the Lord sends people who know the scriptures to the south, but people who are strong in their faith and will not waver from all the anti and bible bashing. Now I’m not saying to all my other missionary friends who are not serving in the south don’t have strong faith, because I KNOW y’all do! But I’m just saying that, the Lord knows us. He truly does. He knows the desires of our hearts and he knows when we are hurting. HE LOVES US and he knows what is best for us. (:
So there is my mini spiritual thought. 😉
I also wanted to say that Sister Dormer and I helped out in the mission office this past week. It was so much fun! (: Ha
Oh and another thing! I cut my hair! Crazy, who would have ever thought! But I cut about 5-6 inches off! Wow is it so much shorter! But I have gotten used to it now. (: It’s alright, but I can’t wait for it to grow back out!
Well, I love y’all and I know y’all are blessed! Remember to strengthen your faith everyday and to stay close to the Lord! (:
Have a blessed week!
Love,
Sister Drummond
Roll Tide
‘So the bad news is, we don’t have the right tool to fix your bike, but we know how to! The good news is that Alabama won last night? #Rolltide’
I couldn’t help but laugh because how they new we won was just funny and the fact they used a question mark and a hash tag? Who does that!? It’s also sad because one of those elders was just a visa waiter and he leaves today! He’s going to Bolivia. It’s was great to get to know him though!
This past week was good. I have been praying in faith that the work will be picked up because yall know my companion and I have been struggling with finding people to teach. Well, the same Spanish Elders have given us 6 referrals this past week. CRAZY! And then we also met this guy named Lewis. He is a religion major! We were talking about different things and then he says this:
“The main difference that I see is that I believe that Jesus Christ is my savior and redeemer. That he died and suffered for me. And y’all believe in that Joseph dude.”
I couldn’t help but laugh at these words! I just had never come across anyone who thought we worshiped Joseph Smith which was hilarious! We asked him how he felt about Moses, Noah, and Abraham. Then we explained Joseph is just like these men. He was a prophet of God. That made sense to him. It just really made me laugh and while I was listening to what he was saying and as my companion answered questions, I could feel my heart beating and I thought to myself, ‘Okay, I know you’re there but what are you trying to tell me.’ I then had the thought to leave him with something and I was going through my mind maybe the Book of Mormon, no that wasn’t right. Based on what he was saying, he wouldn’t read that. Then I thought about a pamphlet, that could work, I could leave him with a Restoration pamphlet, then he said he didn’t want to learn about Joseph Smith. That idea was out. THEN! Oh my goodness then I thought about our scripture study class! DING DING DING! I invited him to our scripture study class that we started and gave him the card about where and when it was held. He said no promises but he was interested. I could tell ha. It was awesome! I think it would be great to have him at our class to have a religion major there! CRAZY! It was exciting.
So that is my awesome story for the week!
And also I forgot to mention this last week, but I had a member mention to me that I reminded him of Elizabeth Smart ha. That my smile was fantastic and that the way I enunciated my words was so clear! He loved it ha. I told him to thank my mother. 😉
Well I love you all and y’all are doin well!
Love,
Sister Drummond
