Savior
Another Week Down!
Hey y’all! (:
Miracles all around!
So as a mission we have a goal to reach 500 baptisms by the end of the year. We have been praying for the mission to reach that goal of 500 baptisms and that we will be able to find someone to help add to that! When Sister Wittwer and I had our meeting in Birmingham 2 weeks ago an Elder gave us a challenge to find someone BRAND NEW by the 15th who will be progressing. Sister Wittwer and I kinda forgot about that for a week or so then 3 days before the 15th(Wednesday night) we prayed to find someone who would become a progressing investigator. Now before I go on, I need to back up for a sec. So last Monday we went to Wal Mart for the last 15 minutes of the night. Sister Wittwer got out of the car and I see her start walking across the parking lot. I followed, naturally, and we helped this woman put her groceries in her car because she had A TON! We told her we were missionaries and that we shared a message about Jesus Christ that will help strengthen her faith and that will help her build her relationship with God. We asked if we could share this message with her sometime this week and she agreed to meet on Thursday. We got her number and address and we told her we would call/text the day before or the morning of before we came by. So Thursday rolls around and we go to meet Aspen. (: WOW! She is phenomenal! She told us that she has had so many trials in life and that she is ready for a change. She wants a change. She said she wants to recommit herself to God, SHE WANTS TO BE RE BAPTIZED! Y’all, Sister Wittwer and I were so in tune that lesson it was crazy! The spirit did not cease for 1 second during that lesson!! AAAHHHH! (: We shared with her Alma 36:3, on page 298 in the Book of Mormon but we told her to say ‘O my daughter, Aspen…’ Instead of Helaman. It was so cool. After she read it all she could say was, “Wow! That was meant for me!” Y’all it was so cool! Then my amazing companion invited her to be baptized on the 30 of this month! She agreed and we told her we will be bringing by a calendar in the next couple of visits. So we set up a return appointment for Saturday(the 15th) and we were praying that she would read from the Book of Mormon. Turns out she did!!! She even came to church yesterday! (: Y’all, there are so many miracles happening here. The Lord is being very generous and helping us achieve our goal of 500 baptisms! It’s going to happen! (:
Raisin’ Ducks
So now on to the good stuff!
Y’all this week has been crazy nuts. I feel like Sister Gomm and I have been working none stop! We have been coming home just totally exhausted! And sadly, we have not been seeing anything come from it…yet! I know from our diligence, we will see success, we just have to exercise patience and faith!
So anyways! Yesterday was so great! I just love Easter! But I have to tell a funny story. So people here in Booneville kinda sorta have a stronger accent then the people in Hoover and that is okay but it’s harder to understand people. I do really well! My companion struggles a little more then me! But I need to eat my words now! So yesterday at Easter lunch, we were with a family and Sister Gomm was really confused about what one of the members said. She thought she heard that he named his car Mary and Russ. But he was just talking about how he took his car to work on an empty gas tank… so a little after that a different member started talking about ducks. How he dislikes ducks and just cant stand them. Now let me explain that people here NEVER put an ending on their words. Like ending… they say endin. So anyways, he said something about raising ducks I guess and I after he said his sentence said, ‘What’s a Raisin Duck?’ Everyone started laughing and I was so confused! My companion explained. It was awful! I was kinda out of the conversation anyways! But yea, that is my funny story for the week!
Easter was so great and I ate lots of yummy food! Y’all I’m learning how to cook Southern and my goodness it is so good! I’ll have to make some for y’all when I get home.
Best food ever!!
Well that’s all I got for this week!
I hope y’all have a great week and enjoy spring cleanin??
Love,
Sister Drummond

Roll Tide
‘So the bad news is, we don’t have the right tool to fix your bike, but we know how to! The good news is that Alabama won last night? #Rolltide’
I couldn’t help but laugh because how they new we won was just funny and the fact they used a question mark and a hash tag? Who does that!? It’s also sad because one of those elders was just a visa waiter and he leaves today! He’s going to Bolivia. It’s was great to get to know him though!
This past week was good. I have been praying in faith that the work will be picked up because yall know my companion and I have been struggling with finding people to teach. Well, the same Spanish Elders have given us 6 referrals this past week. CRAZY! And then we also met this guy named Lewis. He is a religion major! We were talking about different things and then he says this:
“The main difference that I see is that I believe that Jesus Christ is my savior and redeemer. That he died and suffered for me. And y’all believe in that Joseph dude.”
I couldn’t help but laugh at these words! I just had never come across anyone who thought we worshiped Joseph Smith which was hilarious! We asked him how he felt about Moses, Noah, and Abraham. Then we explained Joseph is just like these men. He was a prophet of God. That made sense to him. It just really made me laugh and while I was listening to what he was saying and as my companion answered questions, I could feel my heart beating and I thought to myself, ‘Okay, I know you’re there but what are you trying to tell me.’ I then had the thought to leave him with something and I was going through my mind maybe the Book of Mormon, no that wasn’t right. Based on what he was saying, he wouldn’t read that. Then I thought about a pamphlet, that could work, I could leave him with a Restoration pamphlet, then he said he didn’t want to learn about Joseph Smith. That idea was out. THEN! Oh my goodness then I thought about our scripture study class! DING DING DING! I invited him to our scripture study class that we started and gave him the card about where and when it was held. He said no promises but he was interested. I could tell ha. It was awesome! I think it would be great to have him at our class to have a religion major there! CRAZY! It was exciting.
So that is my awesome story for the week!
And also I forgot to mention this last week, but I had a member mention to me that I reminded him of Elizabeth Smart ha. That my smile was fantastic and that the way I enunciated my words was so clear! He loved it ha. I told him to thank my mother. 😉
Well I love you all and y’all are doin well!
Love,
Sister Drummond
