We had zone training and I was very proud of how we did! Sister Nelson and I, I think, nailed our trainings and I’m really happy with what I said. (:
I went on an exchange with Sister Charlesworth!! Do y’all remember her?? She is so great. (:
Anyways, that’s about it. I love y’all so much and I hope y’all have the best week ever!!
Also some good news, IT’S FINALLY WARMING UP!!!! It went from freezing cold one week, to the next week hitting the 80’s like today! (: YAY!!!

So I totally don’t have very many pictures this week because I switched SD cards from my camera…oops? Oh well they are good pictures. (:
So this week, we obviously had transfers! I was sad to loose Sister Crandall but she went to one of the best places ever!!! Which is Tupelo Mississippi!! How fun! I love that place! She is going to rock it. (:
My new companion is Sister Nelson! She is from Elwood, Utah. When I asked her where that was she said Tremonton…I think that is how that is spelled??? I don’t even know. But she is wonderful! She was trained by Sister Brunner so we have that companion in common! I can’t remember if there is anymore haha. Oh well.
So the fun stuff that happened this week! The first day we were together! An ice storm hit and let me tell y’all, EVERYTHING iced over. Also, the funny thing, we ran out of toilet paper that day.. /: So we decided to walk to Krogers which is only right across the street from our apartment complex and guess what!? IT WAS CLOSED!!!! So we went all day without any toilet paper, we had to use paper towels, let me just say, those aren’t the softest things… (: But we decided to go ice skating in the parking lot because there was a big layer of ice over almost the entire thing! It was so fun and poor Sister Nelson totally biffed it!! It was HILARIOUS!!!! We had fun. (:
We went tracting a lot this week and got a good amount of potentials to start teaching. We just have to go back! Also, church was so fun!!! I think it was the most interesting Relief Society I have ever attended. We had someone say that she thinks she is as close to perfect as she can get without being resurrected. IT was interesting. But other than that. We had an excellent week!
I look forward to seeing what this week will hold! Not sure about the weather yet, but that won’t stop us right!? (:
I love y’all so much! Have the best week ever!! If you are struggling, remember to breathe, pray and rely on the Lord! (:

Howdy y’all!!

Well, there is so much to say! So I will try to be as short as possible because I will be making up pictures from 2 weeks!
First, the only pair of jeans I came out with…ripped. Yikes!!!!! I had a giant hole in the butt and I didn’t know!! Super sad! ):
Does the second picture look like a hamburger?? well guess what it’s not!! I guess it’s like a view of a landscape haha. From far away it looks like a hamburger!
The first week where it snowed!!
This next picture, Sister Crandall and I went walking in the bitter cold and it was so cold I had to cover my face!!! We felt like arabian knights!! (:
Sister Crandall and I when we went tracting at night when it was 17 degrees outside!! We found this awesome note someone had power washed into their driveway! *ROLL TIDE!!!*

This is when it snowed last week and it turned all icy, when we were on exchanges, it doesn’t look that bad, but there is a layer of ice underneath that snow!!

Then it was raining and Sister Crandall were contacting for like an hour and we got soaked!! I know it’s a horrible picture ha but hey, looked how wet I got!!
 .
Alright! Now I can start from last week! So last Monday we went to the Space and Rocket center with April!! (: It was really cool! I plan on going again with my parents! 😀 So there will be lots of pictures from there!
#4 picture is a giant room that has lots of screens and shows like the same thing….ALL AROUND YOU! You literally are surrounded ha.

Walkin in a Winter Wonderland!!

Posted on Updated on

Alrighty! I don’t have a lot time today because we are going to the Space and Rocket Museum with a member today so yea! But I wanted to share of our winter wonderland experience!

Okay, all week we had been hearing about the bad weather that was going to hit Friday in the afternoon. We asked random people on the streets about it, we talked to members, and we even checked our weather radio! It was to be cold ALL week. And yes, it was. Sister Crandall and I went walking and tracting in 17 degrees and lower because of the windchill…and let me just say, when it’s that cold outside with humidity….I felt like I was going to literally become Frozen….just like Ana. 😉
It’s a type of cold that just doesn’t sit outside of you, it literally will eat through all your layers and sting to your bones. It’s insane! But not even that can stop the work of the Lord! We had a lot of people tell us we were crazy!
There was one morning we turned on our weather radio to hear what it had to say for the day and it told us that: ‘The windchill could cause frostbite, hypothermia, and DEATH.’ Sister Crandall and I looked at each other with wide eyes and stunned faces. It was really funny. (:
I was also able to go on exchanges with Sister Conant this week! We were actually on exchanges when the snow hit so we were stuck inside most of our exchange. It was fun cause we got to sit and talk a lot about who knows what! (:
This week has been good! I have really enjoyed it. I can’t wait to see what this week holds! More snow I hear! o:
I love y’all! Have a great week!
Love,
Sister Jesselyn Drummond
ps. I will have to send pictures next week!

The Huntsville Box

Posted on

Hey y’all!! I hope everyone is doing alright. (: I know I am!!
 .
This week, my email isn’t going to be very long, just a warning. (:
 .
First I already told y’all where I am so first things first, my area boundaries consist of a 5 mile by 5 mile box. Yes, a box. I’m literally living in a box! It’s quite fun! There’s so much to do here though!! And within in our little box, there is a ward. It is the smallest ward boundaries in the South Eastern region of America! (: Cool right? I may or may not go crazy…
 .
My companion is stellar!! She is so diligent and steadfast! I love her so much! We already get along so great! She has also been companions with some of my past companions. Sister Platt and Sister Wittwer! How fun. (: I think it’s cool how some of my companions have other similar companions as me, so it’s bound to happen! (:
.
Some exciting things, at transfers I got to see Sister Alexis Rogers!! SAY WHAT!? I love her so much! She is beautiful as ever!! I’m so happy that she has decided to serve a mission! I can’t wait for her to start her adventures here in the Alabama Birmingham Mission! (:
Also at transfers, I saw a lot of my past companions and I took pictures with them! That was fun! (:
 .
So just yesterday, right before our dinner appointment, we were tracting, we had been tracting for maybe 2 hours already and this last house(we weren’t planning on having it be the last house) a very kind gentleman let us in and he had all these AMAZING questions. His wife was just soaking it all in and didn’t have much to say…but HE, asked all the right questions. We were able to explain a lot of things he had questions about and even give him some new information. It’s amazing how the Lord blesses us because of our diligence. (: LOVE IT!!
Well that’s it for this week y’all! I hope that y’all have a splendid week! (:

Last week of transfers!!

Posted on Updated on

Welp, as said in my subject line of this email. This is the last week of the transfer, so y’all know what that means! I have transfer calls on Saturday! SO, DO NOT SEND ANY MAIL NEXT WEEK UNTIL AFTER MONDAY. Got it? (: Good.

This week was really good. We went tracting in the FREEZING cold. That was fun and awesome haha. We got a lot of potential investigators and I am really excited to go follow up with them all.
 .
We went on exchanges with some sisters. The Amory sisters, which are Sister Robison and Sister Mason. Sister Mason came to Tupelo with me as Sister Allred went to Amory with Sister Robison. It was really fun. Now here’s a story! Sister Mason and I were tracting one morning and not having too much success because it’s a weekday. But that’s okay! So we decide to go get some lunch because I’m always hungry and there is a nice Chinese buffet on the side of town we were on that has a really nice deal for lunch. So we went! And while we were there, we had really yummy food and then at the end of our meal when we were stuffed beyond anything…we waited patiently for our check. And the waiter brought us our fortune cookies but no check. So we waited a little longer (it felt like forever) and finally the waiter came to and said, “your meal has already been paid for. I don’t know by who.” WHAT!???? Alrighty y’all, that NEVER happens here. It’s really rare. It’s not like we are in Utah and see members everywhere who will so willingly pay for missionary’s food. It was so amazing!! (: So to whomever it was! THANK YOU! (:
 .
Then I went on exchanges with the Booneville sisters, Sister Smith and Williams. I went to Booneville with Sister Williams and Sister Smith came to Tupelo with Sister Allred. It’s always fun to go back to old areas. (: I forgot to get a picture with Sister Williams. ): There is a lot happening in Booneville and I am so happy to see the successes of the missionaries in that area. (:
 .
Also!! During interviews with President Hanks…a pipe broke at the church so we were so lucky enough to clean up! Haha. Good thing we were there! o:
 .
Well, that’s it for now y’all. I love y’all! Have the best week ever and remember, no mail next week…until AFTER Monday. (: Thank y’all!

Love forever,

Lots of New Adventures

Hey y’all! It’s going to be short this week!
As all of y’all know transfers occurred on Wednesday and I got my new baby missionary! (: Sister Merriam is full of sparks and so much energy! She is excited to be a missionary and I can’t wait to see what this transfer has in store for us! (:
Saturday we had dinner at a members house and we had a ‘greenie’ meal. Don’t tell….(: Sister Merriam’s food was all and COMPLETELY green. HA it was so fun and she took it like a champ. (: I am so proud of her and all that she does. She is pro-missionary already. (:
Sunday had an amazing experience happen! We finally went back to see this woman, Teresa and we found out she has met with missionaries before!! We have a set appointment with her to go back on Tuesday! I am so excited! She may not have been then, but her heart is definitely softer then it was! I can’t wait to begin teaching her!!
Also some Funnies!
I told Sister Merriam that I needed to marry someone who liked the Walking Dead so we can watch it together…(one day)…. and she said, “You can have walking dead babies!!!” Y’all it was SO funny. (: I died.
Sister Merriam was also caught in a stare on Thursday and she said, “Sorry, sometimes, my eyes just get stuck.”
Tuesday when I was still with Sister Platt, I was singing really loudly and very badly in the car and she turns towards me and says, “Hush you obnoxious weed.” Again, I died. Also while we were tracting on Tuesday Sister Platt says, “I need to relieve my waters.” I love how casually she says these things! I’m gunna start sayin that y’all. (:
Another funny thing that happened on Thursday! We were on team-ups with the Nickersons! A storm comes blowin in and we are stuck in this little car with a plate of cookies in front of this less active’s home who is NOT there. Well we wanted to leave the cookies for them with a note so they know who it is from, and we obviously wanted the note to stay dry so we were each looking for something to cover the plate with when Sister Nickerson yells “I have a diaper! A clean one!” Brother Nickerson says, “That’ll do!” First of all, why they have a diaper in their I’m not sure, because they are an older couple, and second the fact that she yelled a clean one?? Hmm….So Brother Nickerson puts the diaper over the plate of cookies and runs! As he is running back we see through the water smeared windows that he has the diaper on his head!! Now this is an odd sight for a brand new missionary who just got into the field! And I’m just dying in the corner laughing my head off. (: I love the South! (:
Well that is it for now y’all! Have a great week and remember to stay STEADFAST IN CHRIST!!
Love,
Sister Jesselyn Drummond

Crazy events. Happy Labor Day!!! Happy Anniversary parents!! (:

Posted on Updated on

My dearest family and friends,

Just so y’all know, today is my parents wedding anniversary! (:

This week, we had some interesting things happen to us!

First of all, we saw another roadkill…this time it was a possum and it was RECENT! It was gross haha. (: I’m pretty sure we had some people starin at us takin pictures by it.

On Wednesday we went on exchanges and I went to Columbus for the day! It was fun. I found more pennies to add to my collection. (:
Thursday we went to one of our investigators FOOTBALL game. And now, if y’all don’t know, Southerners are VERY serious about their  football. And now let me also mention, this was a high school football game. The cheerleaders were AWFUL! Sister Platt and I wanted to go down and show them how it is supposed to be, keep in mind, I was not a cheerleader!! The actual game was REALLY GOOD! I mean, that team was amazing haha. I don’t remember much of what happened because I was so distracted by how badly the cheerleaders cheers were…and it was just so different. It brought sweet memories from high school though. 😛 AND Sister Platt and I seemed to be like the ONLY white people there. It was so weird… (: But perks of bein in the south.

Hahahaha oh Friday, it was our investigators birthday and wow. Was that fun. She invited us over for her party, just a small get together at her place. And once again, can I just say how much I love the South! (: I was very happy because she told her friends not to drink or swear or anything while we there. Who knows what happened when we left… ): BUT while we were there nothing bad happened. But boy, I will always remember that birthday party.

Saturday was so great!!! It was the Prairie Arts Festival!!! It happens every year on Labor Day weekend and it was HUGE! I have never seen West Point so hoppin! People every where! It was a good day, in the beginning. Eventually these HUGE thunder clouds came rollin in and while we were tracting…it just down pours. We were soaked!! Literally. All my make up was coming off. So then we had to go back to the apartment and get changed and dry off. After that, we went back to the festival to see if anyone needed help packing up, because more storms were coming. And boy did they come. It started pouring AGAIN!!! So for the second time, Sister Platt and I got DRENCHED. But while we were walkin around in the pourin down rain we actually met a less active member! We taught him a good lesson and invited him to church. (: Then, after, we went BACK to the apartment had to change everything again and when it is Saturday and you change 3 times in one day, you get creative with your outfits ha.

Then finally come Sunday. I just love the Sabbath! Church starts and the chorister isn’t there so guess who gets to lead for the 2nd week!? ME! (: I led all 4 songs again in sacrament meeting. (: Then of course, Sister Platt and I gave our talks and if y’all know me, I did cry. Only a little though. (: Then they had asked me to say the closing prayer!! You have just got to love servin in a small branch. (:

Well that is the week in a nutshell. I love West Point! (:
Have a great week y’all!!

Love,
Sister Jesselyn Drummond

Ps. I will send pictures next week! Stay tuned. (:

Crazy Crazy Crazy! Oh how I love West Point!

Posted on

I don’t even know where to begin!! I guess with all the funny sayings that I hear!! Ha. First of all, I LOVE blacks! they are so friendly and they say the funniest things! (:
First of all, I have never been called ‘shawty’ and ‘boo’ so many times in my life! And it makes you feel good when you get a compliment from a black girl sayin ‘Oh girl you lookin fly!’ Best compliment EVER! (: Lastly, we were just comparin the differences between white people and black people, because yes, there is a difference! But! We were talkin about what a ‘whoopin’ and ‘beatin’ would be considered. We hear these words ALL the time. And we found out that “A whoopin to y’all is like a spankin’, and I guess what y’all call a beatin’, to us is like a DEATH SENTENCE!” Wow, it was so funny! We were all dyin cause these cute girl were so serious faced! (:
So here is something sad that completely broke my heart! ): Yesterday we were just walkin around this park and in the distance we saw some girls sittin, so we were makin our way over to begin talkin to them, and as we were gettin closer, they looked relatively young. So alright we can get some young women comin to the branch alright! (: Well we walked up on them…and THEY WERE SMOKING!!!!! I was so heart broken it was ridiculous!! We get to talkin with them and of course they are still in high school…but then I asked how old they were and the oldest one was about fixin to turn 17. They next one was 15!!!!! 15 Y’ALL!!! And the youngest one was fixin to turn 14. I was so horrified when I heard this!! THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTERS OF GOD AND THEY ARE RUINING THEMSELVES!!! Or in the southern terms, RURNT! GAH. Luckily in the end, the 15 year old started textin us and thanked us for stoppin and talkin with them. She had just moved to West Point only a few weeks before and she was really strugglin with fittin in. So we are going to take her to ice cream and see if we can’t get some good influence in her life! (:
Another thing, I have a lot of pictures to send home, so y’all will probably get a ton of emails in y’all inboxes! Sorry haha. But my email will only put like 3 pictures per email…. Sorry. /:
ALSO!! For those who have been askin, you really don’t have to get me anything for my birthday! I’m serious now. Just pray for me and the people we are working with! Or as my sweet grandma put in her letter, I was 20 perfect investigators!!! (: MUhahahaha. Good luck givin me that. (:
I love y’all!!

Missionary Work

Posted on

Alrighty y’all this past week I have not felt like a missionary at all! You wanna know why? Because we have been doin TORNADO CLEAN UP for the past 2 weeks in Tupelo.

It is crazy down there, but they have asked the volunteers to stop coming for a while so they can get out and pick up all the debris that we have piled up. So we get a break, and can I just say, I am SO thankful because I am just exhausted! After we email today, we are going shopping then going back to our apartment to take a nice long nap, because I just can’t do another week without resting up a bit.

So besides clean up this past week, I just want to share an AMAZIN miracle that happened to us this past week. (: So Thursday Sister Gomm and I had gone to a smaller town within our area and this town is called Marietta. Let me just say, there is absolutely NOTHIN there. But we were there from 10:30 til 6:30. A member took us and out bikes and dropped us off. And we went tracting, ALL. DAY. LONG. Oh my goodness, y’all I was exhausted afterwards. So now the miracle comes!! We had gone to Marietta in hopes to expand our teaching pool. And we had gotten some return appointments but we weren’t sure how promising they were… so anyways, it’s about 6 and we decided it was time to call the member to come get us. But right before we did, our phone rings and it’s our recent convert in the ward and her sister is at her house asking all sorts of questions about the church and about God and what not. We were so excited!! We just a referral from a recent convert and when we got back to Booneville, we taught and now she is our new investigator!! Isn’t it just amazing! (: I was so happy and excited. I think it is great.

So that’s about it! Also I’m going to forward this video of the tornado! It’s insane y’all! Just a reminder, I was in it! But the Lord loves his missionaries! We are okay. (:

I love y’all and I hope all the dear mothers who read this had a FANTASTIC Mother’s Day.

Love,
Sister Jesselyn Drummond
