The Huntsville Box

Posted on

Hey y’all!! I hope everyone is doing alright. (: I know I am!!
 .
This week, my email isn’t going to be very long, just a warning. (:
 .
First I already told y’all where I am so first things first, my area boundaries consist of a 5 mile by 5 mile box. Yes, a box. I’m literally living in a box! It’s quite fun! There’s so much to do here though!! And within in our little box, there is a ward. It is the smallest ward boundaries in the South Eastern region of America! (: Cool right? I may or may not go crazy…
 .
My companion is stellar!! She is so diligent and steadfast! I love her so much! We already get along so great! She has also been companions with some of my past companions. Sister Platt and Sister Wittwer! How fun. (: I think it’s cool how some of my companions have other similar companions as me, so it’s bound to happen! (:
.
Some exciting things, at transfers I got to see Sister Alexis Rogers!! SAY WHAT!? I love her so much! She is beautiful as ever!! I’m so happy that she has decided to serve a mission! I can’t wait for her to start her adventures here in the Alabama Birmingham Mission! (:
Also at transfers, I saw a lot of my past companions and I took pictures with them! That was fun! (:
 .
So just yesterday, right before our dinner appointment, we were tracting, we had been tracting for maybe 2 hours already and this last house(we weren’t planning on having it be the last house) a very kind gentleman let us in and he had all these AMAZING questions. His wife was just soaking it all in and didn’t have much to say…but HE, asked all the right questions. We were able to explain a lot of things he had questions about and even give him some new information. It’s amazing how the Lord blesses us because of our diligence. (: LOVE IT!!
Well that’s it for this week y’all! I hope that y’all have a splendid week! (:
 .
Love,
Sister Jesselyn Drummond

And Old Friend, New Companion, and New City

Posted on Updated on

Sister Drummond has been transferred to Huntsville, Alabama. She has spent over half of her mission in Mississippi, and it was hard for her to leave but she’s also excited for her next adventure. She goes where she’s supposed to without complaint.

I was super excited to see a picture of Sister Drummond today with her old friend Alex Rogers. Sister Rogers and Sister Drummond grew up in the same ward and went to school together. What a treat to be able to see a familiar face and exchange warm hugs. (Thanks to April Cook for the pictures.)

Her new companion is Sister Crandall from Washington State. They are STLs in Huntsville. Stay steadfast in Christ.

Transfers and 12 Weeks Left

Posted on Updated on

Well life is getting crazy!! I’m getting transferred y’all! So, no mail this week til I get my new address out!! NO MAIL THIS WEEK.

.

I know for a fact that I will be leaving Mississippi…): Leaving the Tupelo Stake. That’s okay though. I guess I’m needed other places. But guess what!! I spent about 10 months of my mission in Mississippi. WOW! Alabama here I come! I was born there and I guess I will die there too. SWEET!
 .
I’m excited to see what my new area has in store for missionary opportunities!
 .
There has been a lot that has happened this week. We have found a TON of potential investigators and things are just happening here in Tupelo! I’m sad to be leaving, but I know Sister Allred and her new companion will work hard together to help bring more souls unto Christ. (:
 .
I don’t have much more to say, so y’all have a great day and know that SISTER DRUMMOND LOVES YOU!!!

Love,

I really don’t have much to say this week. I don’t remember this week much…It’s like the longer I am on my mission, the more I don’t remember. It’s like a sneak peak to becoming old. 😉 Ha.

My new companion is Sister Allred whom I love so much!! We have served around each other before, and we have had the same companions! Pretty cool. (:
Love y’all!
Have the best week ever!!

Well it’s official. She has been transferred to Tupelo, Mississippi as a new Sister Training Leader. Here she is with her new companion Sister Wittwer.

It seems that Mississippi needs her more than Alabama.

Well my transfer instructions are such:
“Sister Drummond, please pack your bags. You will be getting transferred to a new area and receiving a new companion.”
 .
I’m getting transferred out of West Point, Mississippi! Any ideas where I might be going?
I’ll let y’all know either on Wednesday or next week! (:
 .
So this week has been a complete blur. I swear as I am out longer on my mission the less I can remember…I now know what it’s going to feel like when I’m old. o: BUT! I do remember some things.
 .
TUESDAY: We had interviews with the President Hanks. I just want to say, I LOVE THAT MAN WITH ALL MY HEART! He is amazing. Truly amazing. He inspires me to be a better missionary. (: Another great thing that happened is that while we were waiting for our interview time, we were able to watch, “Meet the Mormons” WOW! This movie really is fantastic! For those of you who don’t know what it is or have not seen it, GO SEE IT RIGHT NOW!!! You will not regret it. (Mom, you will cry. ;)) I also have a new dream to go to Costa Rica. (: Haha.
 .
WEDNESDAYTHURSDAY: I was on exchanges with Sister Kudlacek pronounced Coodlacheck…and she is AMAZING! I was in Columbus, MS and wow it was so much fun. Again inspired to be a better missionary. I think this mission truly has the best missionaries ever! (: Not that I’m biased or anything….
 .
FRIDAY: We saw an investigator who we haven’t seen in a while! Which was awesome! And we also got ‘dropped’ by another investigator but I don’t think he really means it because for one, he still plans on coming to church and he believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God! Say what!? There is still something there. I just don’t think he understand that Book of Mormon came from God THROUGH Joseph Smith, because he also doesn’t believe that there could be a prophet, so we know where we need to pick up the missing link. (:
 .
Over all this week was very good. We have 4 new investigators which is phenomenal! (: It is sad that I will be leaving Sister Merriam. ): I know she is going to do great things here in West Point!
 .
That’s it for now y’all! Have a blessed week and know that you are loved! Not only by me, but by your Father in Heaven as well. (:

Hastening the Work and Transfer Calls

Posted on Updated on

Dearest Family & Friends,
 .
Let me just say, I really don’t know where this week went or what happened, except for a few things. So first let’s talk about Elder Zwick. (:
 .
Tuesday We were in Huntsville, Alabama because Elder Zwick of the Quorum of the Seventy came to our mission and wow oh wow!! It was so good! I don’t think I stopped feeling the spirit throughout that entire meeting!! So the other thing, Elder Zwick announced that we will be receiving ‘DIGITAL‘ area books. Which means!!! WE ARE GETTING I PADS!!! Yes, I just said I pads. Between now and January the Alabama Birmingham Mission will be an I pad mission!!! Who knows about Facebook now, but I just think it will be exciting to have ipads!! I did NOT think I would be receiving an I pad while on my my mission. It just shows that the Lord really is hastening his work! (: The other cool thing is that during our lunch break, Elder and Sister Zwick sat at our table!! It was so fun to get to know him and his wife. If y’all remember his General Conference talk in April, I met the woman that jumped out of that moving truck!!
 .
Thursday funnies: We were visiting a members home and the member (Sister Swift) was asking us if we were getting enough fluids because it is really hot, well I said yes and Sister Platt was silent. I totally called her out and said that Sister Platt does not carry a water bottle. Sister Swift got so mad and said “I have a water bottle, let me get it for you.” Sister Platt in protest begins saying, “Sister Swift I don’t want your water bottle!” But Sister Swift immediately cuts her off by saying, “Shut up.” And walk in her house to get the water bottle. I was laughing so hard and  I just love that woman! She is so stubborn. I LOVE HER!!
 .
Saturday transfer calls!!! Yikes. Of course we didn’t get our call till like 10:28!!! But the funny thing is before we get our call, President Hanks calls us and I’m looking at the phone thinking ‘crap he only calls if someone is going to be a Sister Training Leader.’ I then begin freaking out because I have only been in West Point for 1 transfer and I thought for sure Sister Platt would be staying with me! Well it turns out, Sister Platt will be leaving me and she has accepted the call to be a Sister Training leader! (: BUT, after he is done talking to her, he asks the question, “Is your companion excited to be training?” Well y’all I will now be training someone. I am very nervous and excited at the same time. !I’m going to be a mother in the mission life! Yay! Haha. So fun. I hope I can train this new Sister into a Christlike and steadfast missionary! Keep me in your prayers y’all! (:
 .
That’s really about it except for today Monday we went to Columbus for our last district activity! It was so much fun!! We played tons of games and ate lunch. We swapped music and just had a fun time! The funny thing though is that the STL’s and ZL’s (sister training leaders and zone leaders) are in my district and each of them are getting a new companion. The other elders are getting split apart and the one that is staying is also training!! Then the 3rd set of sisters are staying together because one is still in training. EVERYONE in our district will most likely be training. Whether a new missionary or just a new ZL or STL. CRAZY!! (:
 .
I love y’all so much!! Have a great week and remember to stay close to our Heavenly Father! (:
